I have a few issues surrounding the "Support Our Troops" online thing. so let me lay out a few of them. I may actually post this as a blog also because it is thought provoking to say the least.First is the fact that it is an online circulation of a message that serves little to no purpose with the exception of mabye making people feel good about themselves. I prefer to show my support via actions. If you REALLY support the troops that do more than words (Which to borrow from Professor Griff stands for With Out Really Doing Shit) Send them letters, care packages. I mean the things that we take for granted here are treasures when you are in the desert away from family and loved ones... Send Razors, deodorant, magazines, books, music Tobasco sauce, spices, any of the millions of luxuries that we know and love... These are things that we all take for granted here at home, but are valued more than you even know.Second is the fact that personally and this is an awkward thing to say, but I cannot say I support the troops in achieving their goal. I do not believe that we are in this war for ANY REASON aside from "Peak Oil" period. (If this is not something that you understand I suggest a little research) This is not to say that I dislike our troops or that they are not doing good out there. Quite to the contrary I feel that there are many great people trapped in unfamiliar, hostile territory that really have NOTHING to do with it. Thirdly, I have many conflicts with the blind faith movement that seems so prevalent in our country. To assume that our troops are doing the greater good for the greater many there is a bizarre fallacy. If you still believe that Iraq had ANYTHING to do with 9-11 than you have been duped. Not to worry, many people have been duped by the same thinking. This is not a character flaw, but something that you need to understand because disinformation is powerful.So there it is for now.Disagree with me, let me know.Agree with me, let me know.
